Centuries before the processed sugar avalanche, the Guaraní natives of Paraguay used stevia leaves (Stevia rebaudiana) as a natural sweetener.
Following in this tradition, Cid Botanicals uses only 100% pure Paraguayan stevia leaves, considered the highest quality stevia, grown in its natural habitat.
Cid Botanicals uses “Eirete” leaves, known by the locals to be the highest quality and sweetest of any stevia variety. It naturally contains over 8 times the sweetness of the more common “Criollo” variety. Because stevia is native to Paraguay it can be harvested year round, pesticide free and by farmers with a tradition cultivating the best stevia on Earth.
We don’t use insecticides. Instead, honey bees keep our crops pest-free.
No pesticides used, ever. These bees are the stevia leaves’ best friend and offers a natural protection so they can grow up to be healthy.
Pesticides are harmful to humans. In addition to causing short-term health effects, long-term effects of pesticides that are known are cancers, birth defects, reproductive harm, neurological and developmental toxicity, immunotoxicity, and disruption of the endocrine system. We have discovered that the best stevia comes from its natural environment in Paraguay where it can be harvested all year. and tastes great without additives.
Harnessing the Sun
“Solarization”uses the power of the sun to eliminate the need for herbicides.
The solarization process consists of carefully covering our stevia crops with dark, translucent tarps during the hottest periods of the growing cycle.
By using solarization, we control plant pathogens such as bacteria, fungus, and pests without using harmful herbicides.
Inspected by Hand
Our leaves are inspected by expert farmers for quality before they are harvested.
Only the best stevia leaves are selected to be used in Cid Botanicals stevia products. Our farmers take pride in their work, inspecting and tasting the leaves to make sure they are fit for your table.
